How artists start off

Many painting artists usually start off with something simple. Simple painting techniques involve sketching around a particular item, shading or even drawing their own items. Many schools teach children to sketch a leaf, as a leaf has many shades to it, as well as detailed colourings from the flowers. Of course, some artists deem their own imagination to be enough to begin to sketch (preferred to a picture to copy from), and prefer to work from there. Thirdly, some people like to paint from a surrounding they live in, or are fond of (a lake, mountain, city, countryside, the sky etc).
