Magritte on the agenda at the Tate Liverpool

The Tate Liverpool is a real bonus for people living in the North West who want to sample great art without having to travel to the capital.

The gallery tends to focus on more modern art (something I’m particularly grateful for), which is probably thanks to the presence of the Walker Art Gallery just around the corner which caters for older work.

On the way to the Tate Liverpool this summer is a major exhibition of the work of Rene Magritte – one of the most celebrated and influential artists of the surrealist movement. Named The Pleasure Principle, the exhibition promises to delve into the lesser discoursed aspects of Magritte’s work – even addressing themes in his photography and films which have always played second fiddle to his more famous paintings.
